August 19, 2008 - We would like to congratulate our 9 families on their referral
acceptances.
As you can see, the new CCAA system for special needs seems to be working out well. There are many
children ready for placement. There are boys and girls available. Conditions seem to range from mild
to severe.
If special needs is a consideration for your family, please contact your consultant immediately.
For families with a log in date, depending on the gender of the child, age you are willing to accept
and the medical condition best suited for your family, a referral may be available NOW!
August 13, 2008 - As of 8/11/08, CCAA has issued referrals up to and including
1/31/06. The review room has completed review through 1/31/07.
Just for fun, we did notice today that the United States has 29 medals and China has 27. Although
we have more medals, China has 13 gold and we only have 7...so far!
Mr. Zhou is STILL in China completing more adoptions. We expect him home at the end of the month.
As a reminder, please check your expiration dates for homestudy, fingerprints and CIS (I-171H).
***After your free extension, your I-171H will expire and an I-800A will be required. CIS approval
should NOT expire. Please call with questions.
July 24, 2008 - As of July, CCAA has issued referrals up to and including 1/25/06.
They have completed dossiers received through 1/31/07.
Mr. Zhou is currently in China again completing the adoptions for more of our families.
We would like to take this time to welcome back Kim from her leave. She will be here on Fridays and
two nights during the week. She will resume her standard daytime schedule in the middle of August.
Please feel free to click on the above link for Special
Needs Children that are immediately available for placement exclusively for EAC. Please contact
Chris, Karla or Kim in the China Dept. with the doctor's information (phone, fax, email) and any
questions you may have.
June 11, 2008 - The CCAA has issued referrals for LID's up to 1-20-06
10 families are leaving for China this week.
3 other families completed their adoptions this week.
The Chinese raffle went great. Mr. Zhou was able to take a nice donation for the Earthquake Relief Fund to China.
Due to the continued need for help, we are going to continue to collect donations. Anyone interested in making a donation, please make checks out to Project Sunshine and send to:
European Adoption Consultants
c/o Mr Zhou or China Dept.
12608 Alameda Dr.
Strongsville, OH 44149
Be sure to mark "Earthquake Fund" in the Note section on your check.
Please call the China department with any questions.
May 15, 2008 - Based on the information we are receiving at this time, it appears that the children in the orphanages are safe. There has been damage to many of the buildings. Several areas are without electricity and water.
Several of our parents have called concerned about the orphanages that their children are from. We have followed up as best we can and we're being told that the children are all okay.
Due to the destruction, communication systems are poor, at best. We will continue to try to obtain more information.
Mr. Zhou is scheduled to arrive home on Friday with a family and their new daughter.
We want to thank all of you for all the wonderful donations. Gift baskets have been made up and we are currently looking for room to store them all for the next week!!
Mr. Zhou is scheduled to leave for China again on May 25th. Any monetary donations we receive will be sent with his when he goes. These funds will be taken over by Mr. Zhou to assist in the help and relief of the children/orphanages who may need it.
Please call the China department with any questions.
May 8, 2008 - We would like to congratulate our most recent group of families
receiving their referrals last Friday. We even have a set of twins in the group! The official
cut off date from CCAA is 1/12/06.
CCAA has also posted that all dossiers up to and including a LID of 12/31/06 have been cleared
through the review room.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Memorial Day weekend events coming up at the end of
the month. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has generously donated
items, gift cards and funds to help complete the gift baskets for our Chinese raffle. Please
note: All donations for the raffle need to be received no later than Tuesday, May 13. Please
call with any questions.
-The China Dept.
April 24, 2008 - We are pleased to announce that all dossiers with a log in date up
to 12/31/06 have been cleared through the review room. At this time, we do not have an update on
referrals.
We currently have a referral available for a little boy. His was born on 8/21/03. He is considered
special needs due to his age but is overall healthy. If you are interested, please call the
China department.
This year we are changing things up a little for Memorial Day weekend. Instead of having individual
country parties, we will be having an open house on Friday, May 23. Weather permitting, each country
will have a tent outside. We have decided to use our tent for a Chinese auction to raise money for
Project Sunshine.
We would like to take this moment to thank all the parents that have contributed so far. We are
accepting donations for items to raffle off. We are creating themed gift baskets along with many
different gift cards. Even promotional items with your company's logo would be a great help. If
you are interested in contributing, please call the China Department.
Eight more dossiers are being sent to China today. Congrats to those families for their hard
work and dedication to complete their files.
Mr. Zhou will be leaving next week to assist a family in completing their special needs adoption.
We wish them all a safe trip.
April 7, 2008 - The CCAA has issued referrals through and including Janruary 9, 2006.
EAC does not have any families in this range of log in dates. There has not been an update on the
review room.
March 10, 2008 - We currently have a little boy available who is cleft lip/palate.
His date of birth is 3/5/07. Due to the new system at CCAA, interested parents need to have a
completed home study to view this referral. Please contact the China department with any
questions.
March 4, 2008 - CCAA has confirmed today that referrals up to and including 1/4/06
have been released. EAC does not have any families in this date range. Our next group has a log in
date of 1/10/06.
As most of you already know, European Adoption Consultants, Inc. was not one of the agencies on the
list of COA accredited agencies. COA has requested some additional paperwork from EAC which has
been provided to them. We have no reason to believe that we will not be included on their next list
in April.
February 25, 2008 - It was great to see everyone at the Chinese New Year party.
We already have a growing list for Memorial Day weekend. We have changed the schedule slightly.
This year, we will be hosting an open house at the EAC main office for all families on Friday,
May 23, 2008. Watch your mailbox for the invitation. We will not be having individual country
parties. The reunion event at the zoo will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008.
We are looking for volunteers to help with the First Annual Chinese Auction to be held at the open
house. Please contact Chris or Kim for more details.
As many of you know, the Hague treat will be going into effect April 2008. Per the new Hague
requirements, any adoption NOT completed by this time will require proof of 10 hours of training
through your homestudy agency. Please contact your social worker to obtain your certificate of
training. This can be faxed, emailed or sent through the postal service to EAC.
~China Dept
February 6, 2008 - As of 2/4/08, CCAA has issued referral through 12/27/05.
As many of you may have heard, CCAA is in the process of implementing a new procedure for the
special needs program. While certain websites are stating that only 30 agencies will be chosen
to participate in this program, we at EAC cannot confirm or deny that number. We ARE, in fact,
one of the agencies that are participating in the new procedures. I'm sure there's going to be
a few hiccups along the way as with any new procedure. We will keep everyone posted as we make
our way through this trial period. If you are interested in the special needs program:
- Call your consultant to discuss the different special needs that are available.
- Please check with your insurance company to make sure pre-existing conditions are covered at
100%.
- Make appointment with your pediatrician to discuss any underlying conditions that may accompany
the obvious special need.
- A completed home study must be provided to EAC prior to a referral being made to your
family.
We would like to congratulate our 3 families that returned home in January with their daughters.
Mr. Zhou has finally made it back to the United States and will be attending the Chinese New Year
Party/Valentine's Day party at the EAC office on February 9, 2008. Hope to see you all there.
January 9, 2008 - As of 1/2/08, CCAA has issued referrals through December 19,
2005.
We are currently preparing 3 families for travel for later this month. We wish all of them and Mr.
Zhou a safe trip.
We have received a lot of calls with great concern regarding the elimination of the status box on
CCAA's website. This information can still be obtained by all licensed agencies registered with
CCAA. As your representing agency, we will monitor all changes that are posted by CCAA. Then, in
turn, we will immediately note those updates on this website. You will still get the same
information you always have, just through a different website. Each agency will only be able to
access information pertinent to their clients.
CCAA has not addressed our concerns regarding any delays due to Chinese New Year or the Summer
Olympics.
January 2, 2008 - We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Hopefully,
we will start receiving referrals faster in 2008 than we did in 2007!
Watch for your invitation for our Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year party being held at the main
office on February 9, 2008.
Fourteen EAC families were able to travel to China in December and be home to celebrate their
first Christmas as a family. Aside from a few hiccups with the airlines, all went well and Mr. Zhou
was able to come home and spend the holidays with his family also.
A special thanks to Mr. Zhou's wife, Yuan Li, for all her understanding when we weren't sure if we
were going to be able to bring Mr. Zhou home for the holidays.
Please click here or visit the Arrivals section for our 2007 Christmas miracles.
December 28, 2007 - The China department currently has 2 special needs boys available.
DOB: 3/30/06 - Congenital right side cleft lip and palate.
DOB: 10/3/06 – Missing hand on left arm.
Please call the China department for further information. 800-533-0098.
December 18, 2007 - The China department currently has a special needs boy
(DOB: 3/30/06) available. He is congenital right side cleft lip and palate.
There are currently two referrals available of children of Euro Asian descent, not in China.
One is a boy (DOB: 3/2005) with open oval window and additional chord in the left ventricle and
one is a girl (DOB: 10/2005) with open oval window and natal injury of the cervical section of the
spine. Families would need to leave for the first trip in mid January (approximately).
Please call the China department for further information. 800-533-0098
December 6, 2007 - We would like to welcome home four of our families. Three
more families are in China with Mr. Zhou now. Seven are leaving next week. We wish everyone safe
travels.
CCAA has issued referrals through December 14, 2005. Families with log in dates prior to September
30, 2006 are out of the review room.
November 26, 2007 - Mr. Zhou is currently in China with 4 families. They received
their babies yesterday. Everyone is doing well but very tired. We are currently trying to schedule
travel for 10 more families who have received their travel approvals.
We are expecting referrals of more special needs children very soon.
EAC will be having their annual Holiday party at our Strongsville office on Saturday, December 15,
2007 from 1-4pm. Don't forget to RSVP.
November 6, 2007 - CCAA has issued referral through 12/8/05. We would like to
congratulate EAC's 7 families that have just received their referrals.
While the rest of our families are waiting for their referrals, there are some things you can do
to be proactive and make the transition home a smooth one.
- Start your diary, journal, scrapbook, blog. Keep track of your thoughts, dreams, emotions and feelings. It will be nice for both you and your child to reflect back on.
- Interview and choose a pediatrician and/or international specialist. Your child will need to see this person upon coming home.
- Read up on attachment and bonding. Your social worker and/or doctor can recommend material for you. Many parents don't realize what a role this will play once home.
- Talk to/interview local preschools/daycares. Now is the time to find one you are comfortable with as opposed to taking your child from building to building trying to find one.
- Research playgroups/support groups in your area. This can be support for the child and for yourself. Parents have lots of questions. Who better to help than parents who have been there and done it?
October 31, 2007 - As of 10/26/07 the CCAA posted the following statement:
"In order to help improve the welfare institutions tending environment, raise the children's
quality of life and promote child health development, by the end of 2007, the China Adoption Center
will continue to organize to help improve the welfare sector infrastructure as the main content of
'New Year Love' large donation activities. The event, to donate much-needed welfare institutions
rehabilitation facilities, infant incubator, as well as laundry equipment mainly. Hope intends to
help the children's organizations and domestic and international adoptions adoptive families actively
involved. The children need your help, 'New Year Love' campaign needs your participation. Thank you
for your concern and support, thank you!"
To find out more on how you can help, please click here.
October 24, 2007 - Four families returned home with Zhou today. The special needs
children posted on 10/1/07 are no longer available. We hope to receive additional special needs
referrals soon.
The Halloween party is this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Strongsville office.
We'd like to remind everyone that November is National Adoption Month! EAC is hosting a party on
Saturday, November 17 from 1 – 4 p.m.
Project Panda (Jiang Bao Tian) has taken on a new challenge along with the help of Uncle Zhou and
the China department. Please click here for more information.
October 8, 2007 - CCAA has released referrals through 11/30/05.
Thank you to all the families who came to the Harvest Moon Party. Our Panda now has a Chinese
name. Please welcome Jiang Bao Tian to the EAC Family. His name means treasure, precious/calm,
tranquil, peaceful (thanks Susan!)
Thank you to all who donated. The orphanages will truly benefit from your generosity. Mr. Zhou
was very impressed with all who care about Project Panda and remembered to contribute. Mr. Zhou
will be leaving again for China this week with more families. We wish them all a safe trip.
October 1, 2007 - As of 10/1/07, these are the children currently available
for review:
Girl – DOB: 11/10/99 – Healthy, available due to age.
Boy – DOB: 1/8/07 – bilateral complete cleft lips and palate. The lips were repaired on 6/28/07.
Questionable hearing test results. Please contact the China department for further details.
September 20, 2007 - Zhou has officially returned to the USA but will be leaving
again on October 11th. We have received 4 LOA's for our SN families. We look forward to seeing all
of you at the EAC office on October 6th.
September 13, 2007 - We would like to invite all of our families in the China program
to join us on October 6, 2007 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for the Harvest Moon Festival at the EAC headquarters
in Strongsville, OH. Please R.S.V.P. by October 1. Come visit Uncle Zhou and learn the legend of the
moon fairy in the crystal palace, who comes out to dance on the moon's shadowed surface.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the newest member of the China Department.
His American name is Project Panda but he needs a Chinese name! We need YOUR help with
that. As you all know, every time Mr. Zhou goes to an orphanage, he purchases needed items for that
individual orphanage (washer, dryer, blanket, cribs, tv, vcr, air conditioner). This is made possible
by the donations to Project Sunshine.
Project Panda is the China department's portion of
Project Sunshine. Project Panda's first
fundraiser will be a drawing to determine his name. Please see the attached PDF, Entry form.pdf, for
the fundraiser entry form. The entry fee will be $5 per ballot. Please make all checks payable to Project
Sunshine. Please bring your entry form with you to the Harvest Moon Festival. If you are unable to
attend and would like to participate, please send your entry form to EAC's main office,
Attn: CHINA DEPT. All ballots received by 10/5/07 via USPS will be entered in the drawing.
THE RULES: You can vote as many times as you would
like. Each vote is $5. There will not be a ballot vote. This is strictly a random drawing. But, the more
times your panda's name is in the box, the more of a chance of winning. Please be tasteful when picking
a name. We will post the results of the drawing on Monday, October 8, 2007.
September 11, 2007 - It has been brought to our attention that the same prospective
parents that are asking us to "guess" about referral dates 6 months ahead or more are now criticizing
the guess we made. EAC has been very explicit from day one that the waiting can increase or decrease
and will continue to fluxuate. We have been basing time frames on our most recent activities from CCAA.
In no way are we trying to paint rainbows or mislead anyone looking for honest information.
Based on our agency's most recent activity, our most recent group with a LID of November 2005 received
their referrals in July 2007 (please note: This was a 20 month wait for referral). Our December 7, 2005
group is currently waiting for a referral (They have been waiting 21 months to date). Based on that
information, we are preparing all of our waiting families for a 24 month wait until referral.
Could this time frame change? Yes. Will it get longer? We don't have a crystal ball but we hope not.
September 4, 2007 - As of 9/3/07, CCAA has issued referrals through 11/25/05.
EAC does not have any families in this date range.
Our 2 families currently in China have received their daughters and everyone is doing well.
We are currently arranging travel for 4 families to leave for China at or around the end of
September. Because of the national holiday the first week of October and the trade fair beginning
October 14th, these travel dates are subject to change.
August 22, 2007 - Our group of nine families received their babies the day before
yesterday and everyone is doing well.
We received two more travel approvals for special needs. They will leave for China next week.
Mr. Zhou will finally be able to come home (after 8 weeks) from China on the 12th.
We are already anticipating a group of families being able to travel at the end of September/early
October.
We would like to take the time to thank all of our families for their interest about the little boy we
posted last week. He, along with four other children, have been accepted by their forever families.
August 13, 2007 - In response to the "RUMOR" posted this afternoon in regards to the
special needs referrals, EAC has never gotten a referral of a special needs child (repaired) through the
non-special needs program. Our special needs referrals have been exactly that. Some have been repaired
prior to the parents traveling but are still considered special needs by CCAA. All prospective parents
are advised by EAC to have the referral reviewed by a medical professional because of the "issues" due
to the obvious special need. As with any child, an underlying condition can occur at any time.
Through any adoption program, EAC recommends that all waiting parents attain the services of a
pediatrician/international physician prior to the time of referral to address any and all medical issues
regarding your referral when it comes in.
August 9, 2007 - We'd like to take the opportunity to apologize for not keeping our
clients informed with ANY progress being made during the adoption process.
We intend to make a better effort to make sure none of our clients feel "lost in the shuffle" or
forgotten about.
We understand your rising frustrations due to CCAA increasing the wait time. As your advocating agency,
we will do our best to keep you more involved in this process.
As of Friday, August 3rd, CCAA has issued referrals through 11/21/05.
Three families returned home at the beginning of August with their special needs children.
One family is with Mr. Zhou now completing their adoption.
We have a group of nine families preparing to leave next week.
We are anxiously awating travel approval letters for two more families (see the
CCAA section of our website for more info on how the process works.)
July 25, 2007 - After confirming with CCAA, we ARE able to complete interim adoptions
providing there are 12 months between the placement of the first child and the placement of the child
from China.
A homestudy update must be sent to the CCAA after the completion of the first adoption. This could
cause a delay (approximately one month) in the review department.
July 24, 2007 - We understand there are discrepancies in the information that we are
all receiving regarding interim adoptions. What is written seems to be different than what is being told
verbally to agencies. We are trying to confirm the correct information so we can guide our parents according
to the wishes of the CCAA.
We would also like to wish our families traveling this week a safe and wonderful trip to pick up their
children.
July 6, 2007 - EAC is pleased to announce the arrival of 9 referrals to our
waiting families! Check back next month, when our families return from China, for our newest girls
to be posted on the arrivals page.
July 3, 2007 - This notice is for all Ohio Clients:
The Homestudy Department will send you the JFS 1331 approximately 90 days prior to your homestudy
expiring (it's good for 2 years). You will then have 30 days to respond (resubmit the 1331 to EAC).
Once EAC receives the 1331 and the fee, the update will commence within 10 days. You will receive an
updated packet which will include:
One visit from the social worker who will complete the JFS 1385 form
State and FBI fingerprinting
Child abuse check
Safety audit (conduted by the social worker)
One reference
Well water report (if applicable)
If the social worker deems necessary, the following will also need to be done:
financial statement (if significant changes have occurred)
medical statements (if significant changes have occurred)
fire inspection (to be determined by the social worker at time of visit)
Please contact your consultant with any questions.
June 18, 2007 - We are happy to announce that 4 more special needs children
(2 boys, 2 girls) have found their families in the United States. Congratulations to all of you.
For those of you still waiting, we have received confirmation from the CCAA that our waiting families
are able to do an interim adoption through another country providing the adoptive child is in the home
for a minimum of 12 months prior to your daughter from China coming home.
Please call the China Department with any questions.
June 4, 2007 - Check out our new link: "CCAA" for a better understanding on how the
CCAA works!
