China

Yes, dreams really do come true! EAC has seen it happen and it can happen for you! EAC provides parents with step-by-step guidance through the adoption process. Several EAC staff members are adoptive parents who offer first-hand experience as well as a wealth of international adoption knowledge.

European Adoption Consultants, Inc. (EAC) is here today to create families. A child in an orphanage overseas is abandoned with no real hope for a future. A parent here in the United States desires the love only a child can bring to their life. EAC is the thread that ties them together.

Your Paperwork: 3 - 5 months

Once accepted into the China International Adoption Program with European Adoption Consultants you will begin the task of filling out required paperwork. This is a process that involves getting company documents, as well as official government documents, completed, certified and submitted. This process will take you between 3-5 months to complete depending on factors like the speed of your state department USCIS background checks.

The Home Study: 1 - 2 months

A Home Study is a universally required document for the purpose of adoption. This document and process is required for all adoptions, domestic and international. The China Center for Adoption Affairs requires that EAC submits only approved home studies completed by licensed home study agencies. The home study is a process that consists of paperwork, clearances and social worker visits to the family's home.

Immigration and Naturalization Service: 1 - 2 months

The Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) must approve anyone desiring to adopt internationally. Parents can obtain the I-800A packet by calling 1-800-870-3676 or by downloading the form from the web at www.uscis.gov.

Foreign Dossier: 1 - 2 months

The Dossier is a file required by the China Center for Adoption Affairs for the purpose of adoption. These documents must be authenticated and completed as described in the China Adoption Guide. Your Adoption Consultant can assist with any questions regarding the Dossier documents.

Referral: 38 - 44 months;   Special Needs Program: 0 - 4 months

Available children are referred to waiting parents after receipt of dossier file in China. The Beijing Adoption Center will match a referral with a prospective family. Adopting families will again wait for Travel Approval Letters to be issued.

Departure and Arrival to China: 1 - 2 months;   Special Needs Program: 4 - 6 months

Finally the departure day arrives! By this time, adopting families have talked to several parents who have recently adopted, spent hours talking to the China Dept., and everything is organized and ready. EAC has made the hotel reservations in a convenient location where families stay together. All families are met by Mr. Zhou, EAC's China Coordinator. The EAC office in the United States is in daily contact with Mr. Zhou, during your trip to China. Mr. Zhou handles all in-country representation, translations, travel and works non-stop behind the scenes assuring that everything proceeds without a problem.

* Timeframes for international adoption are constantly changing. For the most up-to-date information, always check with your EAC international adoption consultant.
