Ethiopia News Updates
Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Although we work hard to keep this information current, you need to be fully aware that this is pre-application information and is, therefore, subject to change at any time. It is important that you make sure the information that you have printed off to review is still the same information when you make application. Once we receive and approve your Adoption Application, our Agency fees are set for one year from the signing of the Adoption Services Contract. However, Country fees can change as the country deems, as well as the parameters of the program itself. We will keep you informed in writing of any Country fee or program changes which might affect your case as quickly as we are informed and have made any appropriate inquiry to ascertain any or all of the relevant facts.

Many times our Prospective Adoptive Parent(s) hear “news” before the Agency has received it or before the Agency has had time to validate the information by a gathering of substantiated facts and is then able to update our families with reliable information. Please know that as soon as the Agency has information and all of the components have been validated, the information will be communicated to all of the families involved.

However, this does not mean you should not contact the Agency. Many times rumors grow, some of which the Agency knows nothing about. If you hear about something that is troubling to you, call or email your Program Coordinator to discuss. The adoption process produces enough anxiety without adding to the pot!

On this same subject, it is important to recognize that every Agency runs their program a little differently. Certainly, we all have to follow the same laws and protocols, but many times those laws and protocols vary from region to region, city to city within the US and within the country from which you have chosen to adopt. Comparing how one Agency’s program is proceeding to another Agency is not comparing apples to apples. The key word here is trust. Trust that your Agency is advocating for your child and for you at every twist and turn of your adoption journey.
