Families wishing to adopt from Guatemala
must fit the following criteria: • Married or a single person. • No older than 60 years old. • Physically and mentally healthy. • Free of contagious infectious diseases or medical conditions which would prevent you from caring for a child. • Financial stability after the adoption of an inter-country orphan. • Thorough mental preparation for possible risks and delays involved in inter-country adoption.* • A recommendation by the social worker who completed your family’s home study in the form of a home study approval.* • Understanding and preparation for the possibility of post-adoption adjustment difficulties that the family and/or child may experience. * Requirements completed during home study process.* |
