I'll never forget April 29th, 2005. It was late on a Friday afternoon and I was at
work when I got the call from Lauren that we had pink and could go get our daughter.
I couldn't believe it and immediately started calling everyone. We left for Guatemala
that Sunday. I'll admit that I was worried but soon found out that there was nothing
to be worried about. The staff that EAC (Tori and Cynthia)have on site in Guatemala
are wonderful. We were met at the airport and taken to the Marriott immediately. We
had no problems at all getting checked in and in no time had a phone call from Tori
making sure we had arrived okay and to see if we needed anything. She also explained
what would transpire in the next few days which was so helpful. My husband and I loved the hospitality suite. It was amazing to have a private setting the

first time we met our daughter. We were so nervous but Cynthia and Tori helped us
tremendously. Cynthia translated with the foster mother and had a list of questions to ask.
I'm so grateful for that because I really could not think! It was so obvious that the
foster mother took excellent care of our little girl. Our Gotcha Day was exactly 9 months
from the day that we mailed our application to EAC. We were paper ready on November 12th
and received our referral on November 27th. She was 7 days old.The embassy was even a breeze with EAC's help. They really do know what they are doing in Guatemala. We were in and out of the embassy very quickly. Cynthia and Tori made it so simple. I don't think there is anything that could have been done differently to help our process or make our adoption go smoother. Bella has been home for almost 7 months and is pure joy. She has adjusted so smoothly and is such an amazing child. The decision to adopt her is the best decision we have ever made. She is an extremely happy, healthy, and beautiful baby. She's wonderful and we couldn't be happier. Thanks EAC! |
