Families wishing to adopt from Russia must fit various criteria:
- EAC imposes no requirements for adoption from Russia beyond those imposed by CIS, local Courts of
the adoptive couples, state law and the courts of Russia.
- There are some standards regarding number of divorces.
- Families must have CIS approval and a complete dossier including a home study completed by a
licensed agency.
- Age requirements vary with the region where the child resides--check with your EAC representative
if you're over 45.
- Single women can adopt.
Persons with a history of substance abuse, mental illness, treatment for mental illness, criminal convictions or arrests, or mental health counceling may be ineligible for international adoption. Please call for further details.
