| Marissa's Story | |
My story begins as a single mother of two boys. I have always known in my heart that I wanted to adopt a child. During
Christmas, I realized that God had put this special mission in my heart and I needed to fulfill it. Being a
single mother was not a problem.
I began my adoption journey with another agency. I was very motivated and completed my dossier very quickly. After months of waiting, I still had not received a referral. Finally in April [16 months later], I received a referral for a little girl. I planned my travel, but a week before I planned to leave, the agency canceled the trip. They gave me excuse after excuse to keep me hanging on month after month. In December, I met a physician who had adopted a little girl through EAC. He could not say enough good things about the agency and asked me to at least give them a call. In January, I began my EAC paperwork for a Russian adoption. I received a referral and traveled on my first trip in June. Marissa was home on August 2. I can’t begin to explain what a difference EAC made. Our family is now complete. A friend went with me on our first trip to see my beautiful daughter. We were able to visit Marissa in the orphanage three different times. She was a very quiet little girl and it was hard to get her to smile, but she was adorable and I wanted to bring her home the first time I met her. It was very hard to leave her, but it was good to know that all the workers at the orphanage were so caring. It was not what I expected.
»Another agency gave me excuse after excuse to keep me hanging on month after month...What a difference EAC made! My mother and nine year old son, Mason, accompanied me on the second trip. We were glad to spend 10 days in Marissa’s birth country. Mason has a special bond with his sister and is actually writing a book about the trip to pick her up. The EAC staff in the USA and Russia was UNBELIEVABLE throughout the entire process. Both trips were flawless—I didn’t have to worry about a thing. They took care of everything and told me exactly where, when, and how. Thank you, EAC. by Dawn |
