A Guatemala Adoption Story
Our adoption story is a little different than most. We are a family of five, three of which include
our beautiful biological boys Kamren 10, Nathan 9, and Keegan 7. We are a busy family with sports for
the boys that keep us hopping year round. On top of that we are hog and grain farmers. We never have
a dull moment, but underneath all of that there was something missing and that was our beautiful
Josie.
In March of 2004 it finally came to me, our family's missing link, a daughter. My husband and I
discussed this matter in great detail. Our boys are 18 months apart and our lives were quite crazy for
many years. So crazy, that it seemed at some point we were parenting twins. Well now that the craziness
has died down and our youngest is finally in school, I'm ready to enjoy a little me time, right? Wrong.
Something didn't feel right, we gave this decision of our great thought and spoke with our minister and
many friends. We kept wondering why this goofy, but wonderful thought would not leave us.
After months of thinking we went forward with our dream to bring our little princess home.
»"[In Country], the EAC staff treats you like royalty and takes care of your every need."
The paperwork was overwhelming, we were with another agency for over a year waiting to adopt from Russia,
but with all the changes in Russian Law things were not moving as we hoped. Lots of waiting with no answers.
Finally, after this long year of nothing, we made a decision to switch agencies and countries. We had to
transfer all of our paperwork over and redo most of it because our dossier was already in Russia
collecting dust.
We finally were ready for our referral, we signed up with EAC in May and had our referral June 1. What a
beautiful baby girl! We made our first trip to meet our little princess the first week of September. We were
so excited. We went one day early to site see and take pictures of this beautiful place to one day show our
baby girl where she came from.
When there, the EAC staff treats you like royalty and takes care of your every need. (Thanks so much to Rob
and Trish, we will never forget you.) Finally we went back the first week in October and brought our little
Josie Elizabeth Lynn home. What a joy! The process was painless and very enjoyable. Thank you so much EAC for
all your support and help.
Josie is now 8 months old and princess of the house with three overprotective brothers. She is a sweet little
baby with the best personality, always happy and smiling. This come from her having a great start with her
wonderful foster mother that loved her like she was her own.
Thank you EAC for everything and all your support, we love you!
Sincerely,
Shawn, Chris, Kamren, Nathan, Keegan, and Josie
