A Guatemala Adoption Story
My adoption endeavors began several years ago. Being a single male,
and living in Europe, I knew I faced unique challenges. Several attempts
failed, but with the help of the EAC Guatemala team, I persevered.
When I received my referral, I thought he was too good to be true. In less
than five months, however, the photo became a reality and I was on my way to
Guatemala to pick up my son.
When I got there, I was amazed at EAC’s efficiency and organization. I was
met at the airport, driven to the hotel and the next day (after a sleepless night)
I met my son, Miguel. He was only five months old. All of the children were
beautiful beyond words. Miguel was healthy, well-adjusted and happy, as were the
other children. His foster mother did an amazing job during his first few months
of life.
»I was amazed at EAC's efficiency and organization.
As I waited at the US Embassy to get his exit visa, I was surprised at how many other
Non-EAC families, had problems. Our group was always first in line, and everything
ran like clockwork. These people knew how things worked. We had time for some
sightseeing, but mostly our time was spent getting to know our children. I can’t say
enough good things about the experience I had there.
Within a few days, I was on a plane home, with my beautiful 15lb Guatemalan "souvenir"
strapped to my chest. We’re now back in Europe and people are amazed at how happy,
beautiful and healthy Miguel is.
It was a hard road, but with the help of EAC, I have been able to attain the most
amazing experience I’ve ever imagined.
