Kelly Carlson -- Minnesota Coordinator and EAC
Adoptive Parent
Hello, my name is Kelly Carlson. My husband Steve and I have lived in Minnesota all our lives and I am a former
elementary teacher. About six years ago I left the teaching field and started a business with my husband and my
parents. My husband and I were your typical young married couple planning to eventually start a family someday.
After waiting a few years we decided we were no longer going to wait for nature to take its course and plunged
whole heartedly into the process of filling up our home with children through adoption.
We have had the pleasure of being involved with European Adoption Consultants since the winter of 2003 when we
started the paperwork that brought our baby daughter home to us from Guatemala. She was only four months old! We
recently returned home early this year (2007) with our second child, a son, also from Guatemala. He had just turned
8 months old when we brought him home, has the sweetest little grin and has adjusted beautifully!
The old adage, "when one door closes, another one opens" certainly rings true. Our open door led us to EAC and
their wonderful staff and above all, our precious children. The door opened even wider to let in all our new friends
we have met because of our choice to adopt. Strangers soon become friends when telling each other’s stories of their
child’s journey home to them.
I am truly looking forward to meeting you at a seminar and hope I will be a great source of information and support
while you look for your open door.
